Volunteer with Us

Volunteers are always welcome at Atheists Helping the Homeless, DC (HAHHDC). Our volunteers are from many faith and philosophical backgrounds.

Volunteers can help in person or at a distance. We can use your help in many ways. Write to us: atheistshelping@gmail.com.

In-Person Volunteers

Volunteers help assemble and organize Hygiene Kits and other items donated for distribution (see the schedule).
Volunteers can help distribute items to clients. Distribution events can take 2-3 hours (see the schedule).
Volunteers can encourage people to visit this website.
Volunteers can help us sort donated clothing.

Long-Distance Volunteers

Be an HAHHDC website tester. Is our website sound? Is it fast or slow? Are there errors? Can it be improved? Talk to us.
Become an ambassador. We will mail you business cards that you can pass out to friends and colleagues.
Be an HAHHDC Collector: Collect items (often shoes and gently used socks) for distribution.
Help review grant submissions. Are they well-written and clear?

Pop-Up Volunteers

Assist now and then.
Host pop-up fundraiser events. For example, your humanist group may host a one-time collection event for gently used socks.
Host once-only AAHDC awareness meetings with your freethought groups.

Amazon Wish List

We have a wish list at Amazon.com. We list our needed items. Volunteers can help us by going through the Amazon site to find the best prices so we can list them. There are many vendors on Amazon; it is important that we get the best prices for toothpaste and socks, etc.

Donate with the Click of a Button

Donate, even a small amount can help.

$20 can buy 15-20 pairs of socks.
$10 can buy 8-10 miniature but powerful flashlights.

Overall Contribution

All of our volunteers provide greatly needed assistance just by being with us. A few hours can make a big difference in the success of AHHDC, even a few hours just once. Likewise, reading our newsletter can help us. We are all about helping homeless people and you can help us. Together we can make life better for people who are homeless.
